Run for ALS
Enric Casacuberta of Catalonia, Spain lost two dear friend to ALS. An avid runner, he began to raise funds for ALS research, public awarenss, and to help those with the costs of recovery and treatment. This was the impetus for the Route 66 Centennial Run for ALS.
A solidarity challenge on the asphalt of ROUTE 66
" On the occasion of the centenary of the legendary Route 66 in the United States, I envisioned and propose a challenge that no one in Spain has yet done: to travel the legendary route walking and running (walk-run mode), from end to end, from Chicago to Los Angeles, to raise funds for research and the fight against Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)."
Stated Enric Casacuberta,
" I have lost two friends to ALS and I have known the progression of the disease and the affliction of those who suffer from it, and I believe that they need the effort of those of us who have the means to fight against it. Let’s walk and run helping those who can’t!" he concluded.
This journey will begin at the end of August 2026 and end in January of 2027. It will be about 150 days during which Casacuberta will travel the 2448 Miles (3940 km) of the route. This challenge will have technical support from a motorhome (RV) that will be his resting refuge, but never a means of transportation.
