The Long Way Home at the Petersen | Convoy Finish

The Long Way Home at the Petersen | Convoy Finish

On October 6, The Long Way Home makes its final public stop at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles. Three American cars from the 1960s, their identities secret until the St. Louis reveal on September 25, finish Route 66’s last 1,990 miles and are displayed at the museum during the day.

The project began with a one-way ticket: this September, Blake Brisbois flies to Tennessee for a sixty-year-old car he bought sight unseen and has never driven, and that car is his only way home to Los Angeles. His three friends will be waiting in St. Louis with the other two secret cars. Twelve days and twelve route towns later, the convoy rolls into the Petersen. The question the whole trip asks: whether all three cars make it.

Standard Petersen Automotive Museum admission and hours apply; see petersen.org. The convoy itself is free to follow along the route and online. The Long Way Home is a certified Route 66 Centennial project.
