Video Game history in the making! Drive an accurate digital representation of the legendary Route 66, from Chicago to Santa Monica. Since its original release in 2016, efforts have been underway to build a full Route 66, state-by-state, truck-driving simulation experience in the American Truck Simulator PC video game. And now it has arrived!

A Unique Experience
in a Video Game Truck Simulation From Chicago to Santa Monica!

This unique Route 66 experience will be complete with the Illinois map expansion, scheduled for release in May 2026 - just in time for the celebration of the Route 66 100th Anniversary. Players will be able to drive from Chicago to Santa Monica, passing through all 8 states along the way, including towns and iconic vistas inside legendary trucks.

Whether a casual player who just wants to explore America or a die-hard trucking enthusiast, the American Truck Simulator will provide pure joy for all groups. In the process, players will be encouraged to support the preservation and economic development Route 66,

The project aims to bring a new sense of scale and detail to the route, adding new depots, vistas and points of interest in areas nearby the Route 66, like the Grand Canyon.

American Truck Simulator recognizes the role Route 66 played in our nation’s history and publicly honors the Road and the people associated with it. It also helps raise awareness in truly global scale about the people who live, work, and travel Route 66. It gives a very good visual representation of the environment and encourages new generations of people to visit the “Mother Road” in real life. Finally, it involves the public in a special, unique, and/or fun celebration of the historic milestone of Route 66’s 100th anniversary.
