Route 66 
Orchestral Suite

Nolan Stolz, Professor of Music at the University of South Carolina, has composed a multi-movement reflection of historic Route 66, drawing inspiration from multiple trips across the Mother Road. Stolz is working with conductors to offer a rolling premiere of the Suite in 2026.

This new musical pieces has been a seven-year project (2020 through 2026), designed to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Route 66 in 2026.

Titles for piece's eight movements, organized in two parts, include: 

Part One:

     “A.D. 1926,”
     “26 Gas Stations,”
     “66 Ghost Towns,”
     “Vacancy / No Vacancy” 

 
Part Two:
     “Neon Dreams,” 
     “Desert 66,” 
     “Among the Trees,”  

     “The Show Will Go On”
