Happy November, Route 66 enthusiasts! It’s that time of year to give thanks, and we’d like to thank everyone for their continued support in preserving and honoring the Mother Road, especially with its 100th anniversary around the corner.

In this issue, we’re excited to share a little bit of everything Route 66—the “Immersive Experience Project,” Anthony Schmidt’s “Rediscover Route 66: One Miniature Mile at a Time,” a new collaboration between the Road Ahead Partnership and Only in Your State, as well as a New and Easy way to submit your events/activities to the Route 66 Centennial Calendar.

There’s a magic to Route 66—the neon motels, roadside diners, and stories hidden in every curve of the road.

The Immersive Experience Project is bringing the spirit of the Mother Road to life in a whole new way, via 360-degree projection domes in Springfield, Missouri; Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Santa Monica, California.

Vortex is currently seeking project partners, brand sponsors, and venues to help make this journey a reality.

As the countdown to Route 66’s 100th anniversary continues, the Road Ahead Partnership is thrilled to announce a new collaboration with Only In Your State, now named the Official Route 66 Centennial Publishing Partner.

“This partnership felt like a natural fit from the start,” said Bill Thomas, Chairman of the Route 66 Road Ahead Partnership. “Only In Your State’s expertise in U.S. travel and digital storytelling perfectly complements our mission to shine a spotlight on the Centennial celebration.”

Together, the two organizations will launch cross-promotional campaigns, original editorial features, and engaging social media content in the lead-up to 2026. A major milestone to look forward to: an interactive Route 66 map, debuting in January 2026, designed to guide travelers to must-see stops and hidden gems along the iconic highway.

On April 2, 2026, Anthony Schmidt’s Rediscover Route 66—One Miniature Mile at a Time project will hit the road in Chicago, traveling all the way to the Santa Monica Pier over the course of 16-18 days.

Along the way, Anthony and his team will stop at some of Route 66’s most beloved stops, where he’ll stage and photograph miniature cars against iconic backdrops of the Mother Road.

Anthony’s passion for cars began at an early age, and has since fueled a remarkable journey of creativity. His carefully curated collection of miniature vehicles isn’t just a hobby—it’s a way of seeing the world. With a photographer’s eye, he arranges his models in outdoor settings and captures them in breathtaking detail. Through this work, Anthony is redefining the narrative around autism, showing how his unique perspective brings beauty, precision, and wonder to every frame.

Our new Online Events Submission Form makes promoting Route 66 Centennial celebrations easier than ever! As excitement for the Centennial builds, we’ve launched a streamlined online events submission form to make it easier for communities, businesses, and individuals to promote their events along America’s most historic highway.

Available now at Route66Centennial.org, the form allows users to submit events in just a few minutes—no technical expertise required. Whether it’s a car show, local fair, historic reenactment, or special performance, every event plays a vital role in telling the story of the Mother Road during this year-long celebration. Once submitted, events are reviewed and published on the official Centennial calendar, helping visitors plan their journey and experience all that Route 66 has to offer for the Centennial and beyond.

“We built the new submission tool with simplicity in mind,” said Bill Thomas, Chairman of The Road Ahead Partnership and Commissioner for the Route 66 Centennial Commission. “Anyone, whether they are a volunteer in a small town or part of a major organization, can now get their event in front of thousands of Route 66 enthusiasts with just a few clicks. The more events we showcase, the more visitors we attract—and that benefits those who live and work along Route 66.”
